The Guardians of Broadway is an intimate conversation with Phil Smith, the longtime leader of The Shubert Organization, Jimmy Nederlander Sr., the founder of the Nederlander Organization, and Paul Libin, the vice president of Jujamcyn Theatres.

These men didn’t just run Broadway’s grandest stages, they safeguarded an industry that brings $14 billion into New York City every year. Their story might have gone untold if not for filmmaker Miche Bonett, who met them through her mutual friend Liz Koops, producer and head of The Broadway Entertainment Group.

After years of visiting New York and listening to their stories, she realised their legacy had never been documented. Though they weren’t sure anyone would be interested, Miche was. Encouraged by her husband, she seized the opportunity to bring them together for a historic roundtable discussion capturing their shared history, camaraderie, and unwavering love for Broadway.

The conversation underlines Smith’s, Nederlander’s, and Libin’s mutual support and ongoing collaboration intended to sustain a unique sector of American culture — a commitment that extends to supporting New York City in maintaining Times Square and the Broadway District.
